Amira Alfa, chosen as Face of African Fashion Week

Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) and Team Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL), have announced Television presenter Amira Ibrahim Alfa as Face of AFWN.

The delectable presenter and the boisterous and enigmatic star, Denrele Edun, hosted this year’s AFWN Red carpet at the National Theatre in Lagos, which held from June 3- 4 with the theme, “Celebrating the Vibrant Pulse of Africa”.

Alfa was one of the presenters for the before and after party at the just concluded AMVCA 2017. She has hosted few red carpet events in the past including, Africa fashion week Nigeria 2016, Ethan and Harriet 2016, Lagos fashion and Design Week (presenter for Prime TV) and Runway FADAN 2016.
She was also a judge on the Miss Ideal Nigeria 2016 pageant and Got Glam & Essence’s Most Promising Red Carpet host award 2016, at the Glam & Essence style award & runway show 2016. She also did her internship at Ebonylife TV in 2016, during her master’s degree programme.

The statement choosing her for the AFWN read:

“We are so excited to announce fast rising presenter Amira Ibrahim Alfa, as this year’s face of Africa fashion week Nigeria. Amira was first sighted at the corridors of the AFWN 2016 while co-hosting with Derenle Edun on the red carpet. Since then her career has escalated and we are proud to have her as the face of AFWN 2017.”

The AFWN is a platform for promoting Africa indigenous designers to meet the world standards in fashion showcasing upcoming designers to explore their collections. Top designs collection used at the event include: Ninikelia, Shalablackstar, Abc wax, Niposkin, Prestige, Delafrica, Omacouture, Otrabybecca and Moshugah alongside others.

The 2016 event hosted by Ibrahim was well attended and had in attendance dignitaries like Hon Funmi Tejuoso, CEO Nigeria Export Promotion Council, Bola Awolowo, Abba Folawiyo, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Idowu Obasa , Princess Abiola Dosunmu, CEO AFWN/AFWL among many others.
